The Five Faces of Character

When creating a life of significance, several honorable traits rise to the surface, defining our true character. Character involves reining in our desires and impulses in accordance to an outside law. That, in turn, involves the following five basic traits which constitute a fundamental concept of significance.

Mastering our lives

Becoming Master Artists in our Lives

It’s been decades since a college football injury left me paralyzed both physically and emotionally. That dream-shattering day sent my lifelong goals crashing down around me. My heart was broken, my dreams were shattered and life as I knew it was impossible.

Looking back now, I regard my injury as one of the best things that ever happened to me. No, the best thing wasn’t the accident but what I learned about myself and who I became while I worked through the setback and heartbreak.

Trust others as if life depends on it — because it does

Trust is the most important ingredient in every relationship. It’s the most difficult element to develop, the easiest to lose, and the toughest to ever regain.

Trust is the critical first step to building a winning team and launching and sustaining a profitable business. Without trust, every relationship is shallow and fleeting. Because we are human beings living in a global society, trust is our most important connector.

The Heights of Significance

Of all the billions of people living on this planet, the vast majority are striving for success. They work hard, they put in the time and many of them have obtained a level that the world would regard as “successful.” But what does that mean? Does success mean just finding and obtaining wealth and status?

My definition of success is getting what you want and finding happiness on a superficial level. Success is achieving goals without having much purpose behind those goals. Success is creating the life you want, but leaving no legacy.
