What Coaching Is
Ever want to do it yourself but want a little guidance? Ever felt overwhelmed by choices and only want an objective ear from someone who's been there to get going?
Professional coaches provide an ongoing partnership designed to help clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Coaches help people improve their performances and enhance the quality of their lives both on and off work.
Coaches are trained to listen, to observe and to customize their approach to individual client needs. They seek to elicit solutions and strategies from the client; they believe the client is naturally creative and resourceful. The coach's job is to provide support to enhance the skills, resources, and creativity that the client already has.
As noted in Harvard Business Review, The Geography of Trust, by Saj-nicole A. Joni (March 2004), "The most successful leaders understand that trust is a function of relationships as well as intergrity and expertise... A leader needs informed, disinterested advice from sources committed to that leader's success but who have no personal stake in it... Strong outside advisors provide leaders with a resource that their organizations cannot." An outside advisor, in this case a coach, supplies an outsider's insights that inoculates the leader against myopia, and is an effective sounding board. We can be your "third opinion" source.
